Which mitzvot are tied to the Land of Israel?

Question

Is taking challah considered a mitzva tied to the Land of Israel? Is there a list of such mitzvot? Can you give me several examples?

Answer

Rabbi Yehuda HaLevy Amichay

Most Rishonim and Acharonim classify challah as a mitzva tied to the Land of Israel (Hilchot Ha'aretz, page 83), since the mitzva is associated with produce grown in the Land of Israel. Without taking challah, it is forbidden to eat the dough/bread. Other mitzvot tied to the Land of Israel include: terumot and ma’aserot, leket, shichecha, pe’ah, shemita, chadash, orlah, and kila’im.
